The Church at Boxted, Essex, England
Rev. Thomas Morse was minister at Boxted 1573-1578 and was married here on May 26, 1573. Christened here were his first five children, including Samuel Morse, who emigrated to America in 1635 and settled at Medfield, MA in 1652. The photos of the Church and Monument appear with permission of the photographer, Vanessa Bass.

The Morse Monument at Medfield, MA
The Morse Monument was erected at Vine Lake Cemetery, Medfield in Apr. 1858 by descendants of the emigrants. The text of the inscriptions is omitted here since subsequent research has revealed some factual errors. If desired, The Monument text is provided by the Morse Society, together with their copyrighted images of the front and back. A review of previously published material and a recent summary of four of the Morse emigrant families appears in The Great Migration: Immigrants to New England 1634-35, Volume V (NEHGS Boston, 2007), pages 159-80. Articles include the families of Anthony Morse, Joseph Morse, Samuel Morse and William Morse.
