| Of Amherst, pursued his studies preparatory to College, at Amh. Academy, between 1834 and 1839, under the instruction of Rev. George C. Partridge, Hon. Rodolphus B. Hubbard, Mr. Frederick A. Buel, and Rev. Nahum Gale, D. D., graduated at Amh. College in 1843, was appointed in 1852, Librarian of Amh. College, and in June, 1861, Post Master of Amherst. In politics a Republican, he was in 1859 by that party chosen State Senator for the Hampshire & Franklin District. | ||||||||
