Selena Augusta, on her 100th birthday, on Good Friday, April 23, 1943, was at home to her friends at the home of her son and daughter-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Hugh J. Lee, 97 Lincoln St., Meridan, Conn.
She was born during the administration of John Tyler as president, and lived during the administrations of 23 of the 32 presidents of the U. S. She lived through the Mexican War, the Civil War, the Spanish-American War, the first World War, innumerable battles with Indians, and read daily of battles being fought in the second World War.
Her girlhood was spent in Middletown Conn., and she taught school for several years in the days when teachers frequently boarded around in the homes of their pupils as part of their compensation. After her marriage she lived for a time in Brooklyn, N. Y., and in Malden, Mass., and returned with her family to Middletown in 1872, where she lived until Nov. 1879, when the family moved to 313 Grove Street, Meriden, Conn., her home for nearly fifty years.
After the death of her husband in 1896, she continued to keep house until Jan. 1926, when her son Claud J. Lee died and she went to live with her daughter Mrs. John A. LaTour at 28 Vassall St., Wollaston, Mass. After ten years she returned to Meriden to make her home with her son Hugh J. Lee. After his death she lived with her grandson, Robert Peary Lee of 12 Shelter St., Waterbury, Conn., where she died unexpectedly, five days before her 103rd birthday, being up and about in apparent good health the day before.

She married Oscar Dennis Lee, son of Dennis Lee & Nancy Ladd, on 8 Apr 1866. Born Middletown, Conn., on 6 May 1838. Died Meriden, Conn., on 24 May 1896. Buried Farm Hill Cemetery, Middletown, Conn.

They had the following children:
