Joseph Mason was one of the Minute Men from Lexington and participated in the Battles of Bunker Hill and Lexington and at the Surrender of Cornwallis.

William B. Mason joined the Ohio Emigrants, April 1788, and is said to have been the second man to leave the boat at Marietta, and was one of the original settlers of that town. Around 1796 he settled at Adams, on the plain nearly opposite the site of Upper Lowell. He was a cabinet maker, also "a zealous preacher of the Gospel" and a man of prominence in the early community.

When Solomon E. Harden resided Clifford, Pa., he signed his name "Salmon," and it is so written in the church records. He organized the Bethel Baptist Church in Richland Co., and was its first Pastor. Married Susanna as (3) wife.
