Research: The parents of Thomas LAWSON, Sr. of SC are currently not known. Given names used for the descendants of Thomas seem to indicate that there was a connection to the family of Pleasant 'Jimmy' LAWSON of SC. Refer to The Lawson Letters [LL], edited by Mary Alice Lawson, Redding, CA.

The children listed for Thomas are based on census records and other circumstantial evidence. Records naming his children have not yet been located.

Research: The half brothers Bridges and Thomas FREEMAN are, respectively, probable ancestors of Donald VanHoosier LAWSON and his wife Iva Melvina FREEMAN - half 6th cousins. While unproved, it is probable that Bridges FREEMAN was the son of William FREEMAN and father of Howell FREEMAN. Much of the material used to construct the family of Bridges FREEMAN is based on four decades of research by Bobbie Jo FREEMAN LANE PINSON and generously shared in Freeman Chronicles, Issue 1 (Garland, TX 1996).

Research: The evidence would seem to indicate that William was married more than once. It appears that his oldest child was born around 1740 and his youngest some 30 years later. Without citing source, a descendant of William's grandson John, through Graham, states that "William had four wives and Graham Hazelrigg's mother cannot be authenticated." The correct birth order and mother of William's children is uncertain.
