Research: Much information on the HAZELRIGG family, including an English HESILRIGE family, has been obtained either directly or indirectly from the Richard K. Hazelrigg Family Association or from contacts made through the Association. Although Thomas HAZELRIGG of VA is said to be the son of Thomas HESILRIGE (d. 1651) or of John HESILRIGE (d. 1650), brothers and sons of Sir Thomas HESILRIGE (1563-1629), note the critical difficulty with dates. Thomas of VA (b. 1615) could hardly have been the son of either the 7th or 8th son of Sir Thomas when the latter's eldest son was born in 1593. The immigrant also became an indentured servant to pay for his transport to America. It appears that an alternative English ancestry is required.
