Research: No proven connection has been established to his ancestry in England, but he may have been of the HOLCOMB family of Symondsbury, Dorset. Some claim he is son of Gilbert HOLCOMBE and Anne COURTENEY, or possibly grandson of Thomas HOLCOMBE and Margaret TRETHFORD through another son.

Perhaps Thomas had the birth of his first child in New England recorded back in England.
