An unverified source gives his birth place as Upper Heyford, Northampton, England.
Will dated Feb. 1, 1740 at Providence, now in Montgomery Co., PA and proved Mar. 24, 1767 at Salford [Philadelphia Co., PA Will Book H, page 528]. The will names 10 children (2 deceased), wife and 7 sons-in-law.
An Anglican, Richardis said to have been an early member of St James Church, Perkiomen. In 1725, he is reported to have inherited property from his Uncle Nicholas Adams which had been bought by Richard Adams (father of Nicholas) from William Penn in 1681.
It was Richard, the immigrant, who changed the surname spelling from Adams to Addams. In 1698, he was deeded 91 acres by his father-in-law Abraham OpDenGraeff. |
