Nathaniel MOREY (Thomas4, George3, George2, George1). Born on 12 Nov 1754 in Norton, Bristol Co., MA. Died on 16 Feb 1843 in Windsor, Berkshire Co., MA. Buried in Morey Cem., Windsor (now Hinsdale), MA. Personal: Berkshire Co., MA Probate 6532 heirs (children): Nathan, Thomas, Lucinda, Abigail.

Received from Alma Morey LaFrance on 4/19/97:

There is a "MOREY Cemetery" In Hinsdale, MA. Nathaniel Morey d. Feb 16 1843, age 91. His wife Susannah (?) died Dec 15 1841, age 92 years. Daughter Susannah died May 12 1835, age 48 years. Son Thomas Morey (Born Jan 13, 1785, died Feb 17 1869. Age 84 years. There was a Lucinda Morey d. Oct 1856, age 75 years. (May have been the wife of Thomas.) Maryette Morey, wife of E. Cady, died age 22 years. (No date.) I send these names to you because I found in the LAND RECORDS the following. (Windsor MA was formerly called Gageborough). Hinsdale's records were destroyed by "fire & flood" so I was unable to obtain any further info from the Town Clerk there. (The part of Hinsdale where this cemetery is located was formerly part of Windsor.)

Pittsfield, Berkshire County Land records, Book 14, page 243: "To all people to whom these presents shall come greeting, and know ye that I, Nathaniel Morey, son of Thomas Morey of Norton, Massachusetts Bay in New England, for in consideration of certain duties to be performed by Oliver Pierce of a Town formerly known as Williamsburg but now Windsor, in Berkshire, which duties are now done, such as sitting as Minister and Paying Taxes on the 40th lot which formerly belonged to Major Thomas Morey of Norton, in the County of Bristol for the performance of which duties the said Oliver Pierce was to have at deed of 50 acres of the said 40th...I do hereby give, grant etc, in Gageborough, the sole ownership of...etc." Dated April 6 1781.

He married Susanna. Born in 1750. Died on 18 Dec 1841 in Windsor, Berkshire Co., MA. Buried in Morey Cem., Windsor (now Hinsdale), MA.

iv.  Susannah. Born abt 1788. Died on 12 May 1835 in Windsor, Berkshire Co., MA. Buried in Morey Cem., Windsor (now Hinsdale), MA.
v.  Abigail. Died on 14 Mar 1860 in Hinsdale, Berkshire Co., MA. Born abt 1789. Personal: Unmarried. Brother Thomas named as heir.
