Nathaniel BISCOE - bap. Nov. 16, 1595, Little Missenden, Buckinghamshire, England; d. England. Son of Edward BISCOE and Alice TAYLOR. At Watertown, MA by 1642. Selectman 1648 and 1650, he was a tanner by trade. In 1642 he wrote and circulated privately a pamphlet "against the way of supporting ministers," that gave great offense, and for which he was fined ten pounds. In that year, his barn, with leather and corn, amounting to £100, was destroyed by fire. He was so dissatisfied with the prevalent ecclesiastical intolerance that he returned to England about the end of 1651, leaving four children by wife Elizabeth in Massachusetts. Married Oct. 21, 1615, Little Missenden, Buckinghamshire, England.

Elizabeth HONOR - b. about 1599; d. Nov. 20, 1642, Watertown, Middlesex Co., MA. Daughter of Henry HONOR and apparently step-daughter of Elizabeth ROUNCE, who married Henry May 11, 1604, Missenden, Buckinghamshire, England.

It is believed that this is the first publication of the identity of the parents of Rose (Woode) Bond and great grandparents of William Bond of Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk and Watertown, MA.

The WOODE family structure is based upon an interpretation of the entries in the Parish Register of Rattlesden, Suffolk, and is subject to changes and additions. Unless otherwise stated, all events cited occurred in the Parish of Rattlesden, Suffolk [see area map]. George WOODE - bur. Jun. 29, 1608. George may have been a brother of John WOODE, who married on Oct. 12, 1572 to Martha HYON. Married on Oct. 27, 1560.

Jonas BOND - b. say about 1560; bur. Aug. 5, 1601, Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk. Jonas moved to Bury St. Edmunds about 1591, prior to the birth of his third son, the first child whose baptism is recorded there. He owned property at Haughley and at Woolpit, near the parish of Rattlesden, Suffolk [see area map]. In his will, dated Jul. 30, 1601 and proved at Bury St. Edmunds on Sep. 22, 1601, he names Hester WOODE as unmarried sister of his wife. Jonas and Rose were married on Jun. 23, 1588 at Rattlesden, Suffolk.

Rose WOODE - bap. Oct. 25, 1608, Rattlesden, Suffolk. Daughter of George WOODE and Katherin BUTTALL.

1. Oliver - bap. May 4, 1589, Rattlesden, Suffolk. Called eldest son in his father's will, and given property at Haughley. Children: John; Rose; Elizabeth; Agnes; Alice; Grace; Thomas; and Oliver.
2. John the Elder - bap. May 24, 1590, Rattlesden, Suffolk. Named in his father's will.
3. John the Younger - bap. Dec. 26, 1591, Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk. Married Jun. 28, 1612 to Lydia TIXTOTT. Children: Thomas; Rose; Fortune; Joseph; William; John; Matthew; and Elizabeth.

She names her nephew William BOND of Watertown, MA, and five of his children in her will written Jun. 11, 1664 and proved Mar. 8, 1667/8. Her estate was inventoried on Aug. 1, 1664. Married first at Fornham St. Martin, Suffolk on 3 sep 1617 to Samuel PALMER, and second at Nayland, Suffolk on Feb. 8, 1624/5 to Ephraim CHILD, son of Wolstone CHILD and Ellen EMPSON. No known children.
8. Margaret - bap. Dec. 10, 1600, Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk.

Thomas BOND - bap. Sep. 8, 1597, Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk; d. winter of 1658/9. Son of Jonas BOND and Rose WOODE. Called youngest son in his father's will, and given property at Woolpit. A malster at Bury St. Edmunds, his will was dated Nov. 5, 1658, and proved Mar. 10, 1659 at the Prerogative Court of Canterbury, London. In his will, Thomas names his wife and all his known children except Francis, who may have died before 1658 without children.

Elizabeth - Named in Thomas' will, and possibly the mother of his children.

2. John - bap. Feb 5, 1624, Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk. Children: Thomas; Jonas; and Hannah.
3. William - bap. Sep. 3, 1625, St. James, Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk, England; d. Dec. 14, 1695, Watertown, MA.
4. Henry - bap. Apr. 5, 1628, Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk. Children: Elizabeth; and three other children.
5. Elizabeth - bap. Mar. 12, 1630, Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk.
6. Francis - bap. May 31, 1632, Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk. Possibly died young since he is not mentioned in his father's will of 1658.
7. Mary - bap. Jan 31, 1636, Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk. Married Mr. RICHMOND. Son: Bartholomew.
8. Jonas - bap. Aug. 5, 1638, Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk; d. Oct.-Nov. 1681, Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk. A grocer at Bury St. Edmunds, his will was dated Oct. 3, 1681 and proved Nov. 11, 1681. In it he names his wife and several siblings, nephews and nieces. Married Mary. No children.

William BOND - bap. Sep. 3, 1625, Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk, England; d. Dec. 14, 1695, Watertown, Middlesex Co., MA. Son of Thomas BOND and Elizabeth. William BOND arrived at Watertown as early as 1630, but no positive evidence of his arrival date is available. Purchased home property Mar. 15, 1654/5. Served Watertown in many capacities, including selectman, town clerk, Captain, and justice of the peace. Admitted freeman Oct. 11, 1682, and to full communion in church Mar. 27, 1687. Married first Feb. 7, 1649/50, Watertown, MA; and second in the spring of 1695 Mrs. Elizabeth NEVISON, widow of John.

Sarah BISCOE - b. May 7, 1626, England; d. Feb. 15, 1691/2, Watertown, Middlesex Co., MA. She "lay dead 15th" of February. Daughter of Nathaniel BISCOE and Elizabeth.

1. William - b. Dec. 1, 1650, Watertown, MA; d. by Dec. 27, 1725, Watertown, MA.
2. John - b. Dec. 1652, Watertown, MA; d. Mar. 1, 1690/1, Watertown, MA. Died of small-pox. Married Aug. 6, 1679, Watertown, MA Hannah COOLIDGE (b. Feb. 29, 1656/7, Watertown, MA; d. 1698, Watertown, MA), daughter of John COOLIDGE and Hannah LIVERMORE. Children: John; William died young; Hannah died young; Elizabeth married Joseph COOLIDGE; Abigail died young; Sarah married Ebenezer STONE (ancestors of Robert H.
