John HITCHCOCK - b. Jul. 1, 1586, Wiltshire; d. Jun.
12, 1629, Wiltshire. Son of Richard HISCOCKES (b. about
1556; d. before Dec. 1586, All Cannings, Wiltshire). John's sister
Margaret HISCOCKES (b. before Feb. 1583, All Cannings, Wiltshire)
was married on Oct. 9, 1600 at All Cannings, Wiltshire to John
FILPE. Married on Feb. 7, 1614 at St. Peter's, Marlborough, Wiltshire.
Mary FRANKLIN - b. about 1590, Wiltshire. Said to be
the daughter of Richard FRANKLIN and Katherine DENRYTE.

St. Peter's, Marlborough, Wiltshire; d. Nov. 1, 1659, Wethersfield,
Hartford Co., CT.
- Matthias - b. Wiltshire; d. Nov. 16, 1669, New Haven Co.,

CT. Married Elizabeth. Childen of Matthias and Elizabeth HITCHCOCK:
Eliakim married Sarah MERRICK; Nathaniel married second Elizabeth
MOSS; John married Abigail MERRIMAN; and Elizabeth married first
Anthony HOWD, and second John NASH.
- Edward - b. Wiltshire; d. Nov. 23, 1658, New Haven, New Haven
Co., CT. Married first by Feb. 1638 to Mary, and second on May
20, 1656 at Branford, New Haven Co., CT to Frances. Children
of Edward and Mary HITCHCOCK: Mary married first Ralph RUSSELL,
and second Sgt. John POTTER, Jr.; John; Abigail; Samuel; and
Joseph.

Thomas and Elizabeth (Pierpont) Gibbons
Thomas GIBBONS - b. about 1588, Ditchley; d. poss. at
Fenny Compton, Warwickshire. Said to be son of William GIBBONS
and Ann HARMON The birth order of his children is not known.
Elizabeth PIERPONT - b. about 1588; d. poss. at Fenny
Compton, Warwickshire.
- Elizabeth - b. about 1617-20, poss.
at Fenny Compton, Warwickshire; d. Apr. 25, 1696, Springfield,
Hampden Co., MA. Married Luke HITCHCOCK.
- William - b. poss. at Fenny Compton, Warwickshire; d. Feb.-Mar.
1654/5, Hartford, Hartford Co., CT. Arrived in America in 1636
and settled at Hartford, CT as steward of George WYLLYS, who
was from Fenny Compton, Warwickshire. William held offices in
Hartford as constable, selectman and surveyor of highways. Married
Ursula. William's will was dated Feb. 26, 1654 at Hartford, CT
and proved Mar. 10, 1654, with witnesses Jasper GUNN and Luke
HITCHCOCK. In it he names, among others, his wife, two daughters,
three brothers, "sister Hidgecok", "brother Hitchcok",
and the latter's son John. Children of William and Ursula GIBBONS:
William married Patience; Sarah married first Lt. James RICHARDS,
second Humphrey DAVIE, and third Col. Jonathan TYNG; and Mary.

- Thomas - Named in brother William's will of 1654.
The Hitchcock Family in America
From The Great Migration 1634-1535, by Robert Charles
Anderson (Boston 2003), Vol. III, page 338: "There is no
evidence one way or another whether Luke Hitchcock of New Haven
and Wethersfield was a third brother" of Matthew HITCHCOCK
and Edward HITCHCOCK, nor that the latter were sons of John HITCHCOCK
and Mary FRANKLIN.
Luke and Elizabeth (Gibbons) Hitchcock
Luke HITCHCOCK - b. about 1614, poss. at St. Peter's,
Marlborough, Wiltshire, England; d. Nov. 1, 1659, Wethersfield,
Hartford Co., CT. Possibly the son of John
HITCHCOCK and Mary FRANKLIN. Settled at New Haven, New Haven
Co., CT by 1638. Oath of fidelity Jul. 1, 1644, New Haven, New
Haven Co., CT; served on jury of Connecticut Court in 1646 and
1648; Selectman of Wethersfield in 1653 and 1656; signed intent
to settle Hadley, Hampshire Co., MA, on Apr. 18, 1659. Will
dated Oct. 17, 1659 includes profession of faith and names wife
and three children, the children all being under age 18 years.
Resided at time of marriage at New Haven, CT. Married about 1642.
Elizabeth GIBBONS - b. about 1617-20, poss. at Fenny
Compton, Warwick, England; d. Apr. 25, 1696, Springfield, Hampden
Co., MA. Married second at Springfield, Hampden Co., MA on Oct.
2, 1661 William WARRINER (d. Jun. 2, 1676), and third at Milford,
Worcester Co., MA on Sep. 17, 1678 to Joseph BALDWIN (d. Nov.
2, 1684), of Hadley, Hampshire Co., MA. Daughter of Thomas
GIBBONS and Elizabeth PIERPONT.

- John - b. Sep. 27, 1642, Wethersfield, Hartford Co., CT;
d. Feb. 9, 1711/2, Springfield, Hampden Co., MA. Deputy and selectman
at Springfield, Hampden Co., MA. Married Sep. 27, 1666, Springfield,
Hampden Co., MA Hannah CHAPIN (b. Dec. 2, 1644, Springfield,
Hampden Co., MA), daughter of Samuel CHAPIN and Cicely PENNY.
Children of John and Hannah HITCHCOCK: A daughter died on day
of birth; Hannah married Samuel PARSONS; John married Mary BALL,
daughter of Samuel (John and Mary became ancestors of Pres. Grover
CLEVELAND, and of Dorothy and Lillian GISH); Samuel married Sarah
WELLER; Luke married Elizabeth WALKER; Nathaniel married Abigail
LOMBARD; David married Elizabeth BALL; Jonathan died in infancy;
and Sarah died young.

- Luke - b. Jun. 5, 1655, Wethersfield, Hartford Co., CT; d.

26, 1722 and proved May 16, 1727. Deputy and selectman at Springfield,
Hampden Co., MA. Served in King Philip's War. Married Feb. 14,
1676/7, Springfield, Hampden Co., MA Sarah BURT (b. Sep. 4, 1656,
Springfield, Hampden Co., MA; d. Nov. 8, 1746, Springfield, Hampden
Co., MA), daughter of Jonathan BURT and Elizabeth LOBDELL, and
widow of Benjamin DORCHESTER. Children of Luke and Sarah HITCHCOCK:
Sarah married James MERRICK; Elizabeth married Pelatiah BLISS;
Mercy married Ebenezer DAY; Hannah married Samuel STEBBINS, Jr.;
Thankful married John PHELPS; Mary married George COLTON (son
of Isaac COLTON and Mary COOPER); Luke married first Martha COLTON
(daughter of John COLTON and Joanna WOLCOTT), and second Hannah
(MARSH) KENT DAY; Jonathan died in infancy; Ebenezer married
first Mary SHELDON, and second Mary (GRAVES) MORGAN; Jonathan
died young; and Pelatiah married Sarah PARSONS.
