and husbandman. Will dated Dec. 15, 1612, proved in 1620 at the
Consistory Court of Peterborough, Lincolnshire. Children listed

Christopher and Dorcas (French) Peake
Christopher PEAKE - b. about 1605, Thorpe-Achurch, Northampton,
England; d. May 23, 1666, Roxbury, MA. Son of Boniface
PEAKE and and Joane CLARKE. His will,
dated Apr. 2, 1666, was proved Aug. 2, 1666, Roxbury, MA; inventory
Jun. 8, 1666 at £531.17.02. Admitted to the church at Roxbury
as a single man in 1634; freeman Mar. 4, 1635; donor to the free
school. Married Jan. 3, 1636/7, Roxbury, MA.
Dorcas FRENCH - bap. Jul. 13, 1614, St. Edmund's, Assington,
Suffolk, England; d. Dec. 30, 1697, Roxbury, MA. Emigrated to
America with sister Susan by Aug. 10, 1634 when she was admitted
to the First Church at Boston, MA. Served as maid servant to elder
John Winthrop. A letter from Thomas Gostlin to John Winthrop,
Jr., written from Groton on Jun. 11, 1633, indicates "she
is one of the goodman French's daughters of Assington. I have
sent two of them, one for your father and the other for you. Your
father must take his choice. The eldest must serve for 3 years,
and the youngest 4...pray let them be delt as well with all as
any of the same quality." Dorcas was admitted to the church
at Roxbury on Jan. 3, 1636/7. She married second Lt. Griffin CRAFT
(d. Oct. 4, 1689), as his third wife. Daughter of Thomas
FRENCH and Susan RIDDLESDALE.
