Thomas and Mary Bouldin
Thomas BOULDIN III- b. Aug 1579, Stratford on Avon,
England; d. 1665, Gloucester Co., VA.He arrived in VA in 1610
aboard the Swan. A lineage in the Compendium of American Genealogy
(Vol. VII, pp. 27-29) gives his parents as Thomas BOULDIN II
(b. 1550, Warwickshire, England) and Elinor ASTON, and
his grandfather as Thomas BOULDIN I (b. 1523, Shelbourne,
England).
Mary - The family of Thomas and Mary is constructed
from undocumented sources. Changes are to be expected as information
becomes available.

Feb. 16, 1623/4, includes John Powell and Cathern Powell at Bass's
Choice, VA. "Muster Rolls of Settlers in Virginia at Elizabeth
Cittie", Jan. 5, 1624/5, includes:

John survived the "starving time" of the 1609-1610
winter as a youth about age 15. Land records indicate he was of
Newport News (150 acres) on Sep. 10, 1624, and in Elizabeth City
(50 acres) on May 2, 1638. Married about 1623, Elizabeth City
Co., VA.
Kathren - b. 1602, England. Arrived in Virginia on the
Flying Hart in 1622 as noted above.

Elizabeth City Co., VA. Identified as son of John Powell and
Kathern in 1624/5 muster. Probably identical with Col. John POWELL,
Burgess from Elizabeth City 1657/8. Children: Thomas of Elizabeth
City Co., VA, married Elizabeth; and Mark of Princess Anne Co.,
VA, married Sarah HARDING.
- Richard - b. about 1625/6, Elizabeth
City Co., VA; d. 1658, Norfolk Co., VA. Probable son of John
and Catherine.
- William - Lived in Norfolk Co., VA. Probable son of John
and Catherine, and probable father of William.
- Henry - Lived in Norfolk Co., VA. Probable son of John and
Catherine.
Richard and Elizabeth (Bouldin) Powell
Richard POWELL - b. about 1625/6, Elizabeth City Co.,
VA; d. 1658, Norfolk Co., VA. Probable son of John
Powell and Kathren. Married about 1644, VA.
Elizabeth BOULDIN - Elizabeth married second 1658 William
ELLIS, and had sons Philip and William. She married third after
1670 John FERRABEE. Believed to be the daughter of Thomas
BOULDIN III and Mary.

A daughter who married John COLLINS; Thomas; John married Dinah;
William; Joseph did not marry.
- John - b. about 1650, Norfolk Co., VA; d. 1688, Norfolk Co.,
VA. Court records of 1675 state that Susan (CLEMENTS) POWELL
had delivered a bastard child, having lived in adultery with
John, her husband Richard's brother, after Richard's death. Records
further state that John and Susan confessed and were repentant.
They probably married 1675/1676. Refer to brother Richard for
information concerning Susannah. Children: Mary; Susan; Lemuel
married Martha; Dorcas married Mr. JENNINGS; Katherine married
Thomas CRITCHER; and Sarah.
Richard and Susannah (Clements) Powell
Richard POWELL - b. about 1645, Norfolk Co., VA; d.
about 1673, VA. Son of Richard Powell and Elizabeth
Bouldin. Will proved Jun. 16, 1673 with widow as executrix,
and inventory dated Aug. 15, 1673. Married about 1667.
Susannah CLEMENTS - d. 1721, Norfolk Co., VA. Daughter
of William CLEMENTS and Mary, possibly surnamed LAWRENCE.
Will dated Apr. 10, 1719 and probated May 19, 1721. Married second
1675/6 John POWELL, brother of her first husband. Children of
John and Susannah: Mary, Susan, Lemuel, Dorcas, Katherine, Sarah.
Susannah married third before May 1688, Roger BRYANT (d. 1708).

- Richard - b. about 1667/8, Norfolk Co., VA; d. 1713, Norfolk
Co., VA. Married first Mary TURKEY (d. before 1712), daughter
of Thomas and Elizabeth. Married second before May 16, 1712,
Grace, the widow of John STUART; she died in 1717. Children of
Richard and Mary: A daughter who married Thomas BRUCE; Richard
married Courtney; and Elizabeth. Son of Richard and Grace: Joseph.
- Elizabeth - b. about 1669, Norfolk Co., VA; d. after 1711.
Married 1691 or before John SOUTHERLAND (d. 1711). Children:
Ann, John, David, Sarah, and Richard.
- John - b. about 1670/1, Norfolk Co., VA; d. 1747-9, Perquimans
Co., NC. Married first Miriam SMITH, daughter of Thomas and Alice.
Married second by 1734 Esther (or Hester) BOWLES?. Children of
John and Miriam: Lemuel married first Sarah, and second Judith;
John married Elizabeth GLYN; George married Ann (CONNER?); Robert
married Mary; Elizabeth married John WIMBERLY; and Francis.

Powell and Susannah Clements. Held considerable land which
he left to son William, "except 95 acres to daughter Eleanor."
Will dated Oct. 21, 1701, and probated Jan. 20, 1715/6, Norfolk
Co., NC.
