Cathredral churchyard. Lived in High Street, Winchester, Hampshire.
Bailiff of Winchester 1539-40.
Joan PETT - d. 1590. Married second Mr. BETHELL of Winchester.
- Peter - d. 1577, Winchester, Hampshire. Apprenticed to John
WILKYNSON, a London mercer. His will provision for scholarships
for divinity students formed the beginning of the Peter Symonds
School for Boys, Winchester.

William Symonds
William - b. perhaps 1571. Named in his father's will,
and given equivalent of about $16,000. He was a student at Winchester
College and matriculated at Magdalene Hall, Oxford University,
on Feb. 4, 1591/2 at age 20. Perhaps the William SYMONDS who married
the widow Alice ROSEBLADE of Kingswothry on Jan. 29, 1617.

William and Judith Phipping
William PHIPPING - bur. Oct. 5, 1647, Wedmore, Somersetshire.
The will of William PHIPPING, baker, named brother Joseph living
in Ireland, and four daughters, including Judah (Judith) in New
England. Joseph PHIPPEN married Elynor MARTEN on Aug. 2, 1603
at Wedmore, Somersetshire, and had there the following children:
Christopher, Isabella, Joseph, and George.
Judith - bur. Dec. 10, 1637, Wedmore, Somersetshire.
One source suggests her surname may have been DEBURROW.

Somersetshire; d. Jan. 3, 1689/90, probably at Woburn, MA. Married
William SIMONDS.
- Elizabeth - b. about 1625/6, Wedmore, Somersetshire. Married
John ADAMS, and had children by 1647.

William and Judith (Phippen) Simonds
William SIMONDS (or SYMONDS) - bap. Nov. 20, 1612, St.
Peters, Winchester, Hampshire, England; d. Jun. 7, 1672, Woburn,
MA. Believed to be a descendant of the SYMONDS
Family of Winchester, Hampshire, England. To America about
1635, settling first at Charlestown, MA where he became freeman
1639. Moved to Woburn, Middlesex Co., MA about 1643, where he
was taxed in 1645 and built house in Cummingsville section used
as a fort during the early Indian wars. Married first Sarah (bur.
3 (2) 1641, Concord, MA); and second Jan. 18, 1643/4 at Woburn,
Middlesex Co., MA.
Judith PHIPPEN - b. about 1619, Wedmore, Somersetshire,
England; d. Jan. 3, 1689/90, probably at Woburn, MA. Licensed
to embark from Stepney on the 'Planter' March 22, 1634/5 at age
16, a servant of Nicholas DAVIES, together with James HAIEWARD
at age 22, servant and tailor. Judith married first by 1642 in
MA James HAYWARD (or HAIEWARD) (b. about 1612, England; d. Nov.
20, 1642, Woburn, Middlesex Co., MA), and had daughter Rebecca
(b. Dec. 4, 1642, Woburn, Middlesex Co., MA). It may be supposed
that servants Judith and James arrived in MA about Jul. 1635,
and completed a seven year indenture before marrying about 1641.
The license list included only one family, Nicholas and Sarah
DAVIES, with son Joseph. Nicholas DAVIS is found in Woburn, MA
in 1643. Information for Judith appears in The Great Migration: Immigrants to New England 1634-1635, Volume V (Boston, 2007), pp. 456-57. Daughter of William PHIPPING and
Judith.

Concord, MA, John HEYWOOD (b. about 1631). John had married first
Rebecca ATKINSON (d. Aug. 5, 1665, Concord, MA), and they had
children: Rebecca died at age 18 days; Rebecca; John; Pirses;
and Benone died at age 13 days. Children of Sarah and John HEYWOOD:
Sarah married John BALDWIN, Jr.; Judith; Mary; Abigail; William;
and Huldah.
- Judith - b. Mar. 3, 1646, Woburn, MA. Married Dec. 9, 1668,
Concord, MA, John BARKER (b. 1646; d. 1718). Daughters: Mary
married Richard TEMPLE; Judith married Thomas HAPGOOD; and Abigail
married Hugh BROOKS.
- Mary - b. Dec. 9, 1647, Woburn, MA. Married Apr. 14, 1671,

They moved from Woburn to Lexington, MA by 1691, where Capt.
BLODGETT was an Assessor in 1710 and a Selectman in 1714. Children:
Samuel married Lydia JOHNSON; Daniel married Mary MALLETT; William
married Sarah (HALL) SPALDING; Huldah married Ebenezer READ;
Caleb married first Elizabeth, second Sarah WYMAN, and third
Elizabeth WYMAN; Joshua married Dinah MORSE; Josiah married Elizabeth;
John married Sarah JOHNSON; Benjamin; and Nathan married Abigail

Joseph SIMONDS - b. Oct. 18, 1652, Woburn, MA; d. Nov.
12, 1733, Cambridge Farms (became Lexington in 1713), MA. Son
of William SIMONDS and Judith PHIPPEN.
Moved to Cambridge Farms in 1681 with father-in-law. Admitted
to church there in 1698. A subscriber to first meeting house in
1692, taxpayer in 1693, caretaker of ammunition in 1700, common
school subscriber in 1711, selectman in 1712-13, and Ensign in
1712. Married Mar. 7, 1680/1, Woburn, MA.
Mary TIDD - b. Nov. 13, 1656, Woburn, MA; d. Dec. 4,
1732, Lexington, MA. Admitted to church at Lexington in 1698.
Daughter of John TIDD and Rebecca WOOD.

all born at Killingly, CT (1725-1741). Married first Rachel,
second Mary, and third, Nov. 17, 1738, Hannah ABBE. Son of Joseph
and Rachel: Benjamin (Col. at Lexington Alarm 1775). Children
of Joseph and Mary: Huldah; John; Joshua; and Nathan. Children
of Joseph and Hannah: Jothamand Hannah.

d. Apr. 3, 1776. Chosen Hog-reeve 1716, and selectman 1740 and
1755. Married Nov. 29, 1716 Abigail SMITH (b. Jul. 7, 1697, Watertown,
MA; d. Apr. 2, 1776, Lexington, MA), daughter of Jonathan SMITH
and Jane PEABODY. Children: Mary married James MANN; Daniel married
Mary MIXTER; Nathan married Hannah FLAG REED; Jane died in infancy;
Ruth; Abigail died in infancy; Abigail married Isaiah TAY; and
Sarah married Abraham MERRIAM.
- Jonathan - b. 1692-3, Lexington, MA; d. Feb. 22, 1747/8,
Lexington, MA. Selectman in 1732. Married Lydia BOWMAN (b. 1695;
d. Apr. 18, 1790), daughter of Francis BOWMAN and Lydia STONE.
As widow of Jonathan, Lydia married second Thomas CUTLER. She
married third Samuel WINSHIP. Children: Jonathan; Lemuel; Joseph;
Amos died as infant; Frances; Francis died as infant; Amos; Francis;
John married Mary HUTCHINSON TUFTS; and Ebenezer died young.
- Abigail - Married first William HASTINGS (bap. Jul. 13, 1690;
d. Oct. 20, 1723), son of John HASTINGS and Abigail HAMMOND;
and second John KNIGHT. Sons: William; and Edmund.
