From the files of Stephen M. Lawson
The 1860 and 1870 Agriculture Schedules of Wayne County, TN includes the farms of three children and seven grandchildren of Robert Sims and Frances Howard Merritt. The children are Sarah M. Sims (widow of C. M. Lawson), Matthew Joseph Sims, Sr., and Abraham Martin Sims. The grandchildren include Sarah's sons Mordecai S. Lawson and Amos M. Lawson, and Matthew Joseph's children Hartwell Ebenezer John Shields Sims, Elizabeth Sims (wife of William G. Youngblood), Matthew Joseph Sims, Jr., Robert Henry Clay Sims, and Zachary Taylor Sims.
